PATIENT INFORMATION GUIDE We provide medical care on a no appointment basis for tourists, new residents without a family doctor and those patients unable to arrange an appointment with their own family physicians. The clinic is open 7 days a week and is always staffed by an on-site physician. Monday through Friday there are generally two physicians on duty during the day. Both acute and routine medical exams can be performed at any time, including evenings and weekends, however, it is preferable to have routine physicals during the day when two physicians are working. You may find it convenient to use our services for immunizations, preventative health counselling, allergy and flu shots. Warts can be treated with several methods including liquid nitrogen. We also offer treatment for minor injuries and small lacerations. |
| We have made every effort to ensure that our clinic is bright and attractive as well as efficient. You may occasionally have to wait during busy times. Please be patient if this occurs. Our nurses are trained to determine if a patient requires immediate attention. Our staff are here to help you. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or make suggestions so that we can serve you better. |

PAYMENT FOR OUR SERVICES When you arrive at the clinic, please report to the receptionist with your B.C. Health Care Card or other Provincial Health Care Card. Please note that certain services are not covered by the Medical Services Plan (for example, completion of forms, driver’s medicals, sports and insurance medicals). Patients without proof of coverage from B.C. or other provinces will be asked to pay privately for their visit. Patients may be reimbursed under certain circumstances. |

FAMILY PHYSICIAN FOLLOW-UP You may be given a copy of your visit to give to your own physician at a subsequent visit, thus ensuring continuity of care. The clinic physicians do not function as family physicians at the Orchard Medical Centre but we would be happy to assist you in obtaining your own physician. |

HOSPITAL ADMISSIONS If the doctor feels it is necessary for you to be admitted to a hospital, the doctor will contact your family physician or a specialist to arrange admission. * WE ARE NOT EQUIPPED TO HANDLE LIFE-THREATENING SITUATIONS. * |

LAB RESULTS Please feel free to call for the results of any test done at our clinic. At the discretion of the clinic physician, a copy of tests done at our clinic may be sent to your own physician. We would be happy to discuss this with you. |

PHONE ADVICE The staff use their discretion when advising patients over the phone. To receive proper advice and care, we usually recommend that you see your own doctor or one of our clinic physicians. Prescriptions will only be dispensed following a visit to the doctor. |
